Wine, history and legends in the Miniș vineyard, Arad county
The HB Wine estates in Covăsînț are located in the Miniș vineyard in Arad county, on the top of the hill with south-west exposure, overlooking the splendid Șiria Fortress. The vineyard, one of the oldest in Romania, is located on the western hills of the Zărand mountains, between the Mureș and Criș Alb rivers.
<<All the evidence of viticulture in Arad dates back to antiquity and is proven by numerous archaeological finds in the area. The earliest records of the vineyard date back to the 11th century, in 1038, Gizella, the first queen of Hungary, gifted, with the consent of her husband, King Stephen I, "eight vineyards", located on the hill Macra (Mocrea), on the border of Miniș, to the abbey of Bakanybel, after the defeat of the voivode Ahtum, descendant of Glad - notes historian E. Gluck. >>*

The legends of the fortresses from the Land of Zărand
A legend says that the fortresses of Șoimoș, Dezna and Șiria were built by three sisters.
The first one said: "If God helps me, my fortress will be finished tomorrow."
The second said: "My fortress will also be ready tomorrow with God's help."
The third sister defiantly said: "Even if God doesn't help me, my fortress will be ready tomorrow."
As a punishment for her disbelief, after the craftsmen finished the constructions, the fortresses collapsed. The sisters turned into three white snakes wearing a crown and a golden key in their mouths.
The legend also says that snakes appear every year waiting for their liberator to take their crowns and keys. Only then will they turn into girls again and the fortresses will rise again in all their splendor.
